A Timely Gift

Jul 23, 2021
Some gifts are received then quickly forgotten, stuffed in a drawer or under a bed.
Others arrive in near perfect time, and they go on to change one’s life in a remarkable way.
Co-Alliance prefers the second kind of gift.
Our farmer-owned cooperative is deeply rooted in the communities which we serve, having built relationships with families that span generations. We believe greatly in investing in our communities by providing safety education and equipment where there may be a need.
On July 6 our North Crops manager, Tom Barfield, coordinated a lofty donation of a grain safety tube to the Noblesville Fire Department.
Total grain engulfment takes a mere twenty seconds. Grain rescue tubes are designed for trench entrapment as well as grain rescue and extraction. The panels of the tube can be reversed to allow first responders to make a wall or a tube from the panels. The sleek finish allows the panels to slide easily into grain, removing the grain from around the victim to relieve pressure as quickly as possible.

We had no idea that donation would save a life just two weeks later.
On Saturday, July 17 a construction worker became trapped in a trench when the ground beneath him gave away. The Noblesville Fire Department was dispatched, and the donated grain rescue tube was utilized to stabilize and rescue the man.
We invite you to watch the brief news story by clicking here.
How incredible that piece of equipment designed on serve in on-farm rescue in the middle of rural America saved a life in an sprawling metropolitan area.
We care greatly about the communities we serve and even more about the people who also call these places home. We are deeply humbled that we forged a relationship with the mighty Noblesville Fire Department and together coordinated such a contribution, just in time.
