Pork, Pulaski County & Passion: The Perfect Partnership

Jan 28, 2022
Co-Alliance employees work daily to support American farmers who feed people, and we are passionate about eliminating food insecurity. That’s why we didn’t have to look hard to find a reason why a donation to the Pulaski County Foodbank fit our mission to Lead, Grow, Give, Remember.

But it isn’t just our employees who have a heart for giving, it is certainly our partners, too.

Derrick Stalbaum is a third-generation contract grower for Co-Alliance, and recently quit his full-time job as a teacher to build two hog barns on the family farm, Stalbaum Pork & Show Stock. Derrick has a unique path back to the farm, and he does a fantastic job of telling his family’s pork production story through social media. He constantly opens the farm gate to offer the public a real look at his day-to-day work in protein production.

Indiana Pork is a believer in Derrick’s transparency and partnered with him to donate to the local Pulaski County community. In conjunction, Indiana Pork and Derrick are donating $1,000 worth of frozen pork (436 lbs. of ground pork, if you’re into details) to the local food pantry!
Not only is Indiana pork being raised to feed the world, it’s also being raised to feed our neighbors.
But the giving did not stop there.

Alongside that mighty contribution, our Northwind Pork team donated $500 to the Pulaski County Foodbank and Land O’Lakes generously matched that amount to up our contribution to $1,000 total.

We are so thankful for contract partners like Derrick Stalbaum, and Indiana Pork, who recognize a need in the community and answer the call. We’re also thankful for the partnership with Land O’Lakes which allowed us to double our monetary contribution towards something we're passionate about. It takes a team!
