Crown Point Fire Rescue Team Recognized for Life-Saving Work

Aug 12, 2022

Co-Alliance has worked to focus our community giving into three key areas that we feel strongly will benefit the communities which we call home:

Agriculture education & leadership – There is power in organizations such as 4-H and FFA that encourage, teach, and motivate the next generation.

Food security – We have the most abundant, safest food supply in the world; there is no reason why our neighbors should go hungry.

Agriculture & energy safety – Agriculture and energy are dangerous industries, and every day we work alongside our customers in both. We must train first responders, customers, and youth about the dangers of such occupations.

We have a robust safety team that dedicates countless hours to training communities and making substantial donations in terms of safety equipment. The time and money never bother us. And here’s why:

Six months to the day that Co-Alliance provided specialized grain rescue equipment and trained Crown Point Fire Rescue team members on its use, the training and equipment was utilized to save a man’s life.

In early March Crown Point Firefighters joined dozens of first responders from other agencies to help pull a man to safety that was engulfed in soybeans inside a grain bin. After 2 ½ hours of heroic work, he was out with minimal injuries. What an incredible outcome.

Last week, in front of a crowd at the Crown Point Board of Public Works and Safety meeting Co-Alliance recognized members of the Technical Rescue Team for their life-saving actions.

The five members recognized at the Board of Public Works and Safety Meeting were part of the entry team that worked inside the bin for 2-1/2 hours to rescue the victim. There were also teams of people outside the bin who were the support system needed for the crew inside.

We’d like to thank employee Josh Kandel for organizing such an honorable presentation and our Safety team for training the first responders effectively so that they could save a life.
