TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
Application Timing
To have a higher return on investment in fungicide it's important to spray at the right time. Keystone Agronomist Jason Roth goes into more detail about what you should consider when deciding to apply.
Later Application
Fungicide activity only lasts for a certain length of time. Whereas past research seemed to support a tassel application timing, more recent research is showing that slightly later applications (R2) may be more helpful in keeping corn healthy later into the season. Think of it as trading days of protection on the front side for more days of protection on the back side of corn’s yield building stages. Ultimately it depends on the level of disease pressure at a given location at a given time in a given year which will determine the optimum timing. This means growers need to have flexibility in making application timing decisions.
